I have thought about nothing but Sunday’s BAFTAs since it was confirmed that I was back on the red-carpet as E! Entertainment’s fashion commentator. This is a huge and very exciting job for me because:
1) It is the BAFTAs aka the British Oscars and all of this years stars will be out in force, (rumours include Ben Affleck, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Adele and Sarah Jessica Parker may all be in attendance – #watchTHISspace)
2) The E! live coverage is aired to 90 million people in over 150 countires. That is a lot of people.
3) It makes me as international as a Kardashian (no, not really.)
The red-carpet prepping started two and a half weeks ago when I went to Percy & Reed, the super-sleek hair salon on Great Portland Street. This was my second visit and hair-cut with Lacey Hawkins who totally understands hair, how to cut it to frame your face shape and weave through the right caramel blondes and soft browns; classy.
This is me before:

After a head of foils, fifteen minutes under the very hot heater, a shampoo & conditioner, toner, treatment, trim and blowdry, this is me after:

Quite a radical improvement from rodent-like split ends to a sleek ‘Posh-would-be-jealous’ bob. I think many of you will agree that going to the hairdressers can be a nail-biting, angst-inducing experience. However, there is hope, because since I became friends with the lovely Lacey I know I am in safe styling hands. I can’t recommend Percy and Reed enough.
(PLUS they offer real froth-top cappacinos, served with delicious millionaire shortbread. Yes, I did have three pieces.)
The next step to red-carpet success is a spray tan first thing tomorrow morning. I have only ever had a spray once before and although it wore off to a natural shade, I looked like Janet Jackson for two terrible days (this time however, I am in the safe hands of St Tropez.) And of course nails – I must sort out my nails! The plan is to visit the go-to salon Nails Inc on South Molton Street for a two-week manicure/pedicure – where else do you get every single shade of every colour?
Okay, so I have the dress (which you can see a detail of in the header), the shoes are en-route today, I am picking out jewellery tomorrow, then it is the read through on Saturday…
