After months of wearing black, grey and navy in varying outfit combinations, it finally feels like spring and after the weekend’s hot sunshine, summer is on standby. It can feel a bit overwhelming when you realise it’s time to refresh your wardrobe; where to start? You don’t have to tap every trend, all you need are a handful of fresh and bright pieces to update your wardrobe. This season’s catwalk trends have been embraced by the high street with pink, gingham, frills and florals popping up everywhere. In a bid to brighten up my wardrobe I bought River Island’s red scallop-hem mini skirt and it has been a joy to wear, working with so much of my wardrobe from leather and stripes to denim and bright silks, see below for ideas and inspiration on where the shop the looks.
Stylist Notes:
If you’re colour-shy and don’t feel brave enough to wear a bright colour (this also applies to prints) – introduce colour into your wardrobe via separates. For example, with this season’s love of yellow you may prefer to wear tailored trousers, shorts or a mini skirt, if it’s a tricky colour it is best to wear it away from the face. With this rule in mind you can wear whatever shade of whichever colour you want – be bright, bold and brave!
