**Fyodor Golan**
The duo who won the Fashion Fringe Award back in September 2011 showed a exceptionally feminine show on Friday. Inspired by the 1967 film ‘Belle de Jour’ with sixties beauty Catherine Deneuve, the collection was inspired by the journey of a girl becoming a woman, where she is both innocent and sexual.
The prints and finishes took centre stage for me with Ming-like bright azure-blue florals against pure white, looking both street-wise and sophisticated when styled with a bead embellished cropped bomber jacket and cool 1990s minimalist hair. The prints remind me of Mary Katrantzou, that marriage of structured designs and abstract florals in striking pure pigments.
Amongst a collection of structured and folded evening dresses, bead and sequin embellished seperates, the real showpiece was the fish-tail sunset red/orange evening gown that looked like it could have walked out of The Savoy Hotel and onto next weekends Oscars red-carpet, with its floor sweeping length, waist defining origami folds and bare shoulders – stunning.
It was such an exciting show and from what I have read and heard, Fyodor Golan are no longer up-and-coming; they have arrived.
