How did that happen? How has the British Style Collective wrapped for another year?
It was a huge year for everyone involved; for all of us who’d lived and worked for that same December weekend every year and have now left the NEC and moved onto pastures new; Liverpool. Firstly, we couldn’t have been welcomed by a more stylish and vibrant city; thank you for being the best hosts, you are amazing and now I finally understand why Scousers are so proud of their roots; it’s a great city with great people.
Secondly, with a few bumps/ hurdles/ hiccups/ (insert other cliches here) that were inevitable for a new event – the British Style Collective was an amazing success! The show has four different venues which means it should have been a logistical travel nightmare but via schedules, maps, shuttle buses and uber, everyone was where they were supposed to be – which is a miracle.
As the host of St George’s Hall (think Somerset House meets the Wallace Collection) my weekend was back-to-back; if I wasn’t in conversation with Henry Holland I was hosting a panel discussion on the power of fashion with Glamour Magazine’s Jo Elvin, presenter Lisa Snowdon, Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh, Hilary Alexander and the original Clothes Show broadcaster Caryn Franklin; it felt like a year for women and their style, confidence, individuality and flair.
If anything my only feedback is that it needs to be four days – not three!
